Who needs you to be God's

I was tasked with preaching the community homily here a couple Sundays ago. It is definitely an opportunity that I enjoy, but the audience is a bit particular. Preaching to priests (who all have more priestly experience than me) and seminarians (there are 5 of them compared with 14 priests in the community) can be challenging becuase one can easily think that they have "heard it all."

To tell you the truth I don't remember exactly what Sunday it was, though I am pretty sure it was already Lent (I know, it cannot have been that long ago LOL). The liturgy spoke to me of the mission and the need for us to be men of God. My specific mission demands that I be a man of God. The souls that count on my being a good shephard demand that I be a man of God. The Regnum Christi Movement that we are part of demands that I be a man of God. Our holy mother Church demands that we be men of God.

No pressure, right? You know, it's just that you're going to let down, like, everyone if you are not a man of God. And that's when it hit me. There is something even more important than all those demands. And it is more important to God, too. Who most needs me to be a man of God? I do!

God wants me to be happy. God wants me to live life to the full. God wants me to have deep peace and joy in my soul. We can have that if we are men and women of God. All those other demands are second to this.

  1. I knew the first moment I met you

  2. What a wonderfully power revelation, Fr. Daniel! Selfish is one of my least favorite words in the English language. It all starts with us and from that place of self-knowledge and conviction, we have something beautiful and substantive to offer to God and others. I thank God for his faithfulness to you and for helping you be healthy and strong!

Love you and praying always for you, Mom
